Pile Driving Analyser (PDA)

(4 to 8 channel WiFi data transmission)

 

The Pile Driving Analyser (PDA) is a tool to control the pile driving.

It can also be applied for Dynamic Load Testing (DLT) often called PDA Test.

Acceleration and strain transducers are mounted near the pile top. The PDR, a data acquisition and data recording unit, is suspended resiliently on the pile and is isolated from high pile driving impact forces and resulting accelerations. Signals are recorded by the PDR and transferred to a (notebook) PC by Wi-Fi or an Ethernet cable. Signals are recorded continuously and analysed by stress wave analysis methods. Results are presented real time as graphics and as text during monitoring.

 

Field results are immediately available after pile driving. Signals are stored both on the PDR and the PC. The PDR Pile Driving Analyser (PDA) complies with ASTM D4945.

 

 

Software for monitoring, analysis, processing and reporting are contained in one program Allnamics-PDADLT. Data collected can be exported for further analysis with AllWave-DLT signal matching software. The first portable pile testing system was developed by TNO in 1984 under the supervision of Peter Middendorp and Fokke Reiding. The system was called  the “Foundation Pile Diagnostic System” (FPDS) and this system could be used for several pile testing applications:

  • Pile Driving Analyser
  • Dynamic Load Tester
  • Sonic Integrity Tester
  • Driveability Analyzer

Under the supervision of the same TNO developers, Allnamics has produced the PDR, an advanced Wi-Fi based pile testing monitoring system that reflects more  than 35 years experience in pile testing, both onshore and offshore.  The PDR can be used not only for Pile Driving Analysis (for both impact and vibratory hammers(VDA)), but also for Dynamic Load Testing and Rapid Load Testing.  The system provides state-of-the-art technology for data acquisition using combined strain and acceleration transducers, and allows  for transducer checking during pile monitoring. The PDR has an internal recorder which backs up all measured signals and  allows standalone automatic monitoring. The PDR-PDA complies with ASTM D4945-12

 

The PDR- PDA monitoring /analysis and reporting software (Allnamics-PDADLT) runs on Windows 7 and Windows 8 (notebook) PC's equipped with Wi-Fi.So a special monitoring computer is not required although under rough site circumstances the use of a sturdy field (notebook) computer is advised.

 

Pile Driving Analysis using the PDR has been applied successfully on numerous projects around the world under some of the most challenging operating conditions.
